What you do makes a difference.
Every action, every choice, every day.
Don’t get it twisted in thinking that you’re just a small fish in a large ocean and that it doesn’t matter what you do – the world will always be the same.
False. Wrong. Lazy thinking.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, motivated individuals can change the world – as it is the only thing that ever has!
Real change has and always will start with an individual, an individual who dares dream of a different world, influences people to join him on the quest to get there, and takes action accordingly.
Easier said than done – but it doesn’t have to be grandiose and insurmountable. It simply has to start with the intention of changing one person.
As the Dalai Lama reminds us, “The suffering of one person or one nation is the suffering of humanity; The happiness of one person or nation is the happiness of humanity.” Continue reading
“Noticing the problem does not change the problem. While of course, awareness is a critical first step, action is the absolute necessary step.” ~ Sevan Apollo Poetry, Good Men Project
“In Latin there is a dictum: agere sequitur esse – to do follows to be; action follows being. It is tremendously beautiful. Don’t try to change your action – try to find out your being, and action will follow. The action is secondary; being is primary. Action is something that you do; being is something that you are. Action comes out of you, but action is just a fragment. Even if all of your actions are collected together they will not be equal to your being because all actions collected together will be your past. What about your future? Your being contains your past, your future, your present; your being contains your eternity. Your actions, even if all collected, will just be of the past. Past is limited, future is unlimited. That which has happened is limited; it can be defined, it has already happened. That which has not happened is unlimited, indefinable. Your being contains eternity, your actions contain only your past.” ~ Osho, Love, Freedom, Alonenss: The Koan of Relationships
“Problems do not go away. They must be worked through or else they remain, forever a barrier to the growth and development of the spirit.” ~ Scott Peck, The Road Less Traveled
By Seth Godin
Book Overview: The Web can do amazing things, but it can’t provide leadership. That still has to come from individuals—people just like you who have passion about something. The explosion in tribes means that anyone who wants to make a difference now has the tools at her fingertips. If you think leadership is for other people, think again―leaders come in surprising packages. Ignore an opportunity to lead and you risk turning into a “sheepwalker”―someone who fights to protect the status quo at all costs, never asking if obedience is doing you (or your organization) any good. Sheepwalkers don’t do very well these days. Tribes will make you think (really think) about the opportunities for leading your fellow employees, customers, investors, believers, hobbyists, readers…. It’s not easy, but it’s easier than you probably imagine. Click here for more info!

In the book Tribes by Seth Godin, he discusses the way people become leaders and how it has drastically changed over the past few years. With the power of constant connection through internet, social networks and cell phones, previous barriers have been torn down. This presents amazing opportunities for anyone to step up to the plate and lead. All you need, Godin explains, is the desire to make something happen.
With that desire, Godin argues throughout his book that your potential as a leader is only limited by your initiative. He believes not that it would be cool if you wanted to lead us, or that maybe you should lead us – he believes that we NEED you to lead us. He’s telling us that with this outstanding opportunity and this possibility that’s never been there before – YOU NEED to take action within your ‘tribe’ and lead people forward.
