“What we do on some great occasion will probably depend on what we already are: and what we are will be the result of previous years of self-discipline.” ~ H. P. Liddon
“The successful person has formed the habit of doing things that failures don’t like to do. Successful people don’t like doing them either, necessarily. But their dislike is subordinated by the strength of their purpose.” ~ Stephen Covey, The 8th Habit
“Only the disciplined are truly free. The undisciplined are slaves to moods, appetites and passions.” ~ Stephen Covey, The 8th Habit
“Successful people aren’t born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don’t like to do. The successful people don’t always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them.”
We all pretty much know what it takes to be successful. Just like we all pretty much know what it takes to be healthy, fit, and in shape. The difference, however, between those who become successful and get in shape and those who do not, is what they choose to do even when they don’t want to do something that they know needs to be done.
For example, there may be days when you feel tired, lazy, and unfocused and don’t feel like doing what you know you should do; Like eating an apple versus eating a cookie or working out versus ‘facebook-ing’. The choices, almost always are obvious. It’s the decision making and action taking that’s the hard part.
Unsuccessful people make up excuses, re-schedule, cave-in, give up, and quit early. Successful people suck it up and get it done regardless. Anybody can do the work when they’re motivated, energized, and eager. It’s what you do when you’re the opposite of that that makes ALL of the difference!
Stay Strong, Keep Moving Forward, and success will find you!
