Living With A SEAL

Living With A Seal [Book]

Book Overview:  When Jesse felt himself drifting on autopilot, he hired a rather unconventional trainer to live with him for a month – an accomplished Navy SEAL widely considered to be “the toughest man on the planet”!  Jesse is about as easy-going as you can get.  SEAL is…not.  Jesse and SEAL’s escapades soon produce a great friendship, and by the time SEAL leaves, Jesse is in the best shape of his life, but he gains much more than muscle. At turns hilarious and inspiring, Living with a SEAL ultimately shows you the benefits of stepping out of your comfort zone.

Ever feel like your schedule and routines are controlling you and not the other way around?

…Like you’re stuck in a rut and bored with the daily grind?

Last week I discussed how I ventured to The Albright-Knox Art Gallery in search of inspiration outside of my comfort zone, but what if – in order to break up the monotony / routine of your life – you invited a Navy SEAL to live with you for a month under the agreement that you had to do everything he/she asked you to do, whenever he/she asked you to do it?

…Talk about getting pushed outside of your comfort zone!

Well, believe it or not, that’s exactly what Jesse Itzler did.  And how he spent his 30 days with a Navy SEAL were documented in his book, Living With A Seal.

When I finished the last few pages, I threw on my running shorts, laced up my sneakers and ran 9 miles, did 100 push-ups, and 30 pull-ups.

…Go ahead and ask me if it was an inspirational book! Continue reading

“You can be fit without being healthy, but you can’t be healthy without being fit.  Meaning… you can be in great shape on the outside, but if you don’t eat great and don’t take care of your insides, you aren’t necessarily healthy.  History shows us there were plenty of athletes who were in great shape but suddenly died of a heart attack.  Balance is key.” ~ Jesse Itzler, Living With A SEAL

“[My wife] likes to think of money as a big magnifying glass.  If you are a good person before you had money… then money makes you an even better person.  If you were a charitable person before you had money… then money makes you even more charitable.  But if you were an asshole before you had money… well then, money makes you an even bigger asshole.” ~ Jesse Itzler, Living with a SEAL
