Stepping Stones—The Process of Achievement [VIDEO]
‘Someday’ doesn’t exist. It never has and never will. There is no ‘someday’. There is only today.
‘Someday’ is a B.S., lame, lethargic, lackadaisical way to avoid the trouble of getting started now. Yes, getting started means more work. Yes, it means you may have to step outside of your comfort zone. Yes, it means you will have more to worry about on a daily basis. But guess what it also means…? You’ve gotten the hardest part out of the way. By getting started you literally go from 0% goal completion to 25% goal completion. The other 75% lies in your daily efforts forward. Whatever your goal is that you plan on doing ‘someday’… Now is the time to re-schedule that appointment and get it going today! You’ll thank yourself tomorrow.
Real supermen don’t leap over buildings in a single bound. They take small, determined steps, consistently over time.
Every bite off more than you can chew? Ever set a goal that was way too ambitious? Ever procrastinate and completely overwhelm yourself with a workload that you couldn’t handle? Well, if you have, you’ve realized that success doesn’t lie on your ability to produce A TON, one time… It lies in your ability to produce manageable, realistic chunks consistently, over extended periods of time. And when you chop away at large goals by taking action every day, it becomes a part of your daily habits. And when it becomes a part of your daily habits, it literally becomes a part of who you are. And when it becomes a part of who you are, your success over the long run is ensured. You can’t eat 7 days worth of healthy food on Sunday and expect it to be as good as eating healthy food every day during the week!
It’s not about finding who you are. It’s about creating who you are.
Don’t take the passenger seat and expect life to show you exactly where you’re supposed to go and who you’re supposed to be. Take the driver’s seat and drive life where you want to take it! Don’t wait for supernatural signs, unexpected opportunities, or dumb luck… Immerse yourself in the things you love, learn everything there is to know about them, start creating opportunities and make things happen! The absolute worst thing in life is looking back and thinking, ‘If only I had (fill in the blank)’… Be your own creator.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t… You’re right.
I know first hand from my endeavors in the world of Martial Arts and tricking that confidence is everything. If you are over analytical, too cautious, too scared, or too far into any mindset that makes you think you can’t – You won’t. It’s that simple. It’s the people who think less (in the right ways), throw moves more often, and fall down the most that become great – Because even though they may not be able to do it just yet, they THINK that they will be able to eventually – and that’s what makes all of the difference.
Ask yourself honestly, who do you want to be and what are you willing to do to become that person.
Start with the end in mind. If you don’t have an end destination, how in the world are you ever going to get there? It makes no sense. I mean, honestly, how are you going to know what to do on a daily basis to get yourself closer to the ‘ultimate you’ when you have no idea what the ‘ultimate you’ even is? After reading this post, take 10-15-30-60 minutes to really think about that. Seriously, DO IT. Then, write it somewhere that you can see it every day. You’d be surprised how it’ll change your daily undertakings. Stay focused on your goal and your goal will come into focus for you.
